I love this featured photo. I used to have this lovely wreath, all tinsel and balls. But as time wears out our bodies, so time does to our stuff. The Bible says Jesus told His disciples, in Matthew 19-20, “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where… Continue reading I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas
Have I ever told you how much I love Arizona? This state is beautiful. You can drive from Mexico at the southern end, to Utah at the northern end. The time would take about eight hours. In the south, the deserts reign, wild from the border up to around Prescott or Payson. The mountains climb… Continue reading The Heat is On – Aye, Arizona!
I love that song. My Dad used to sing all these old songs when I was a kid. My voice isn't the best, but I still sang along. We all did. Dad, Mom, me, and the barfing kid. Dad would take us on road trips for a few hours. We would drive into the desert,… Continue reading All of Me, Why Not Take All of Me?
I love the autumn. I love the colors, the cool weather, the excitement of the holidays coming up. I am able to go outdoors during the day without feeling as if my skin is searing off in the nuclear sunshine of Phoenix. Many, many people love the heat, but not I. I want weather where… Continue reading When Will I See You Again
Hi! Did you all know that the song Down in the Valley has another name? Apparently, because the last verse references Birmingham jail, the song's secondary name is just that. Birmingham Jail. Those are the kinds of fun things you'll learn as you read along with me. Trivia. You'll be the Trivial Pursuit champion learning… Continue reading Valley So Low…
This blog has some interesting (to me) issues having to do with what do I keep and what do I throw away. I am not a typical hoarder who keeps everything. I have some small piles, here and there, of things I go through periodically. I purge. But here are some things I keep: I… Continue reading Down in the Valley
TJ and I do Trap, Neuter, and Release (TNR) on the feral cats in our neighborhood. I thought I'd mention this, because we end up on the release end of our ferals with about sixteen of them in our yard. We have this routine each day: wake up, feed animals, take the dogs for a… Continue reading Blue Skies Smiling at Me!
I'm bragging a little, today. I got a lovely email from a woman in the UK. She bought my Memories of War series. She told me ... well this is what she said in her email: I just wanted to drop a quick note to say how much I loved your Memories of War series.… Continue reading You Put the Song in My Heart
She isn't 5'2" yet... But she's the sweetest child. Elektra. Plus that silly dog, Ruby Sue. This photo reminds me of another with Elektra's sister, Simone. I have to push a photo of them together because they are super similar. Simone walking another of my cocker spaniels... 20 years ago. As soon as I do… Continue reading Five Foot Two…
Is a very fine house. We are all relieved to be home, yet at the same time, I wish we were still traveling. The trip was fun, stressful, and the granddaughter asked if we were home yet about forty times on the way home. She was a treasure, though. This was her very first trip.… Continue reading Our House
Resting isn't something that TJ and I are used to. At home, we do housework, walk the dogs, feed the animals, write the books, etc. Plus afternoons are spent homeschooling the little girl. Evenings are spent with dinner and quiet time. BUT when you're traveling, everything is different. We have half the stuff to do.… Continue reading I’m a Traveling (Wo)man Pt. 2
We are traveling a lot, but we are stopped in Friday Harbor, WA for the time being we'll be here for a week. Sadly we will go back to Phoenix after this. That being said, the traveling time is 3 days, including nights, on the road to get here. The RV Park in Ely, NV… Continue reading I’m a Traveling (wo)man…
God willing, tomorrow TJ and I will be heading out on our drive-about. We will be visiting my sister, Susan Wingate, also an author, at her home in Washington State. We will load up the trailer, pack up the doggo, and head out in the morning. This post will be short, but I will be… Continue reading Going Down That Long Lonesome Highway!
Happy Monday! We've almost passed July. Two of my grandkids have birthdays this week. The bigger one will be 19 years old. The littler one will be 9. I am sort of stunned by this fact. I don't feel like the grandparent of an almost 30 year old. That one's birthday is October. Three grands.… Continue reading If You Don’t Know Me by Now…
There used to be be this little toggle on WordPress blogs. You could choose to publish your posts at the top of your page. But in the genius minds of software folks, they've moved the option to someplace next to impossible to find. Apparently, you have to publish the article first, before you can assign… Continue reading Please, WordPress, Make My Life Harder
