So yes, this is Phoenix, Arizona. The heat is oppressive. We’re expecting from 110° to 117° for the next week. If I say kill me now, I’m not being literal but seriously, this is too hot for human beings. We walk our dogs most mornings. We go about a mile, depending how everyone is feeling. Sometimes Ruby Sue says enough is enough. This morning we got home when the temp was 96°. I try not to go outdoors when the weather is hotter than that. I’m continually praying for rain and cooler weather.
In the meantime, I’ve been lax again in writing this blog. There’s been so much stuff. We are looking for a new property in northern Arizona… out of the ridiculous heat. I may have mentioned this before. Some things stopping us are family, moving our house, selling our house… the heat, general life. I’m whining. Please ignore me.
Philippians 2:13 for it is God who is at work in you, both to desire and to work for His good pleasure. 14 Do all things without complaining or arguments; 15 so that you will prove yourselves to be blameless and innocent, (etc).
So. I’ve finished another book! I’m pretty excited about this one… An old-fashioned western romance. I’ve always loved Zane Grey since I was a young teenager. My Dad got me a mail order subscription of his books. Zane Grey’s, not my Dad’s… I would get two books a month, which I read very quickly… usually in the first week. Then I would bite my nails (not literally) while I waited for the next two. Cowboys, Indians, damsels in distress! Which is why I wrote my western romance. I don’t know if people know this but Zane Grey’s books are… western romances. A hero, a bad guy, a damsel… usually. Full of action, adventure, and a lot of fun to read. Of the 80 or so books I (still) own, I’ve read them all at least four times, and some of them more than that.
I’ve always written something, and TJ too, but now that we are retired we write books. And I write this blog, as well. The new western romance is called Under the Mogollon Rim. You will be able to find the story on Amazon, August 1! Sadly, you can’t see it there, yet, BUT you can see it on my book page. Go look at the cover and official blurb! Don’t worry. I will announce when the book is available.
TJ is working on at least four manuscripts at the same time. I told him to concentrate on one so we could get something new out for him! His last story, The Man Who Rode Dragons, is a really fun-filled story of adventure, with dragons, elves, & wizards, but in a more contemporary setting. You scifi/fantasy guys should read that one!
We have several events [see the events page] over the next few months (not August), with the September event in flux, as our grandson, Nasif, will be graduating from the Air Force boot camp during that time. We may have to shift things around so we can go to … San Antonio, Texas, with our trailer to see him graduate. I am literally having empty nest syndrome for the 4th time. But I’m also so proud of him. TJ is also proud of him.
