Book News, Fun Stuff, There's a moral to the story

If You Don’t Know Me by Now…

Happy Monday! We’ve almost passed July. Two of my grandkids have birthdays this week. The bigger one will be 19 years old. The littler one will be 9. I am sort of stunned by this fact. I don’t feel like the grandparent of an almost 30 year old. That one’s birthday is October. Three grands. My darlings, plus a grand-in-law. Yep. Stunned. They give me joy on a daily basis.

Being married to TJ gives me joy. Having two beautiful kids gives me joy. The sun in the morning and the moon at night. But especially, Jesus give me joy.

The exciting stuff is that Thursday, August 1, the Fussy Librarian will be featuring TJ’s book, the Reluctant King on their 99 cent email. But I don’t want anyone to miss out on this! So on Kindle, this book will be 99 cents for anyone who wants to buy it. Here’s the blurb: Rae ran away from his home; then he ran away from his world. Now, 400 years later, he is told he must return to claim what he was running from: the throne. Rae returns to his homeworld with Jon and Jym who left with him when they were all sixteen years old. Now they begin the process of making him king.

Additionally, not completely book news (or family) we will hopefully be beginning our traveling next week. My plan during this driving about will be to vicariously let you all go with us. That means I am going to blog and post each evening (as much as possible). We will be taking our time so we can take photos, see things we haven’t seen before, and soak in some Americana along the way. In the past, I feel we were always going to somewhere as fast as we could go. Now, even though we want to get somewhere, I feel like the places we see along the way are important, too.

Soap box time: I take exception to a couple things in my life. The main one is people who make assumptions about me. If you see my blog, my social media posts, or anything else, those things are not me. They do give you some insight into my relationships, but except where I’ve defined them for you, they don’t tell you my education, my hometown, who I went to school with. But they do not define me at a deep level. Only Jesus Christ can define me in that space. Christianity, or being a follower of Jesus Christ, is not a religion, although some make it like one. I have a relationship with HIM, through HIS Word (the Bible), and through His Holy Spirit. Religion is law. Do this, don’t do that. Work harder to be good. Run faster, dress nicer, be better. Blah, blah, blah.

Jesus, however, is freedom. He takes care of all the law for us. We are only required to have faith in Him. We obey because we love Him; because He first loved us. No one is saved by being a good person. Jesus himself said, “Only God is good.

Please, if you want to know me better, contact me. Ask me questions, but don’t ever assume you know me. Thanks.
