Hi, everyone! Yes, I still blog on TJ’s and my website, the Mirror Gate Chronicles! I’m also using Substack to reach more people. You can join Substack for free. Then you can follow me and TJ through all our antics.
I am hoping to hear our trailer is all fixed up next week. Then all our dreams about traveling away from this hot, hot city will come true. Once we have our house on wheels, we can take our little dog with us. You guys met Ruby in a prior post. She’s our cocker rescue. We love her. A lot. We love Cortana, as well, but she belongs to our son, Thomas.

All that being said, our first trip will be up to the great northwest where my sister lives. I haven’t really thought about it before, but where we live, Phoenix, AZ, is 40 degrees hotter than where she lives. I can’t wait. Although, just now some thin clouds passed between us and the sun. Anything is a relief. Today’s temperature is 113*. Gak!
Back to our song title… we have an event in Payson on Saturday! Woot! The Payson Book and Art Festival at the Matazal Casino. If I could go anywhere else I would, because these people have totally banned pets. But their reasoning is valid. Sadly people take advantage of the service animal label. Because of that, they bring in untrained, ill-behaved animals, and people like me and Ruby suffer. How does that happen, you say? I had planned to bring Ruby because she is a traumatized rescue. I was going to bring her kennel and put it under our table at the festival. I would only take her out to take her outdoors so she could stretch and do her duty. But no! Fortunately, my sweet grandson will take care of her for the day. Expect me to be slightly frantic the whole time we’re away.
TJ and I are working hard on two different books. He’s expanding The Flight of the Night Bird. This story is a steam punk science fiction he wrote several years ago. We pulled it due to a scary event I won’t even tell you about. We filled Night Bird in with a lot of great stuff. We’ve cut the questionable issues! These edits will make this book even more fun and exciting.
In the meantime, I’m feverishly working on our new murder/mystery, The Yavapai County Murders. This book picks up a few years after the Death at Hell’s Canyon Quarry story. Detective Allen Anderson and Becky Tsosie get together again to figure out who is killing young students at Yavapai Community College. Students, young men, are found on the football field. The whole county is distressed. Why is this happening? Are these murders connected to another case? A cold case from four years back?
Oh, by the way… When we begin trailer life, I will be blogging from the road to tell you where we’ve been, what we seen, all that fun stuff that goes along with travel. Stay tuned! We know God is in the mix. His will is all we ask.
If you buy a book from us, please review it on Amazon! Please sign up to follow TJ and me on Amazon and our two blog sights! Feel free to email us. We love to hear from all of you! Be careful in this hot weather!
