There's a moral to the story

Follow God’s Rainbow

Life take interesting turns. As Bugs says, “it’s very interesting.”

Last summer, TJ’s heart tests weren’t great. The docs said his ejection fraction (EJ) dangerously low. A defibrillator placement was suggested. The defibrillator would shock his heart back to work in the event of a new heart attack, giving us time to call emergency services and save his life.

Because TJ just loves medical procedures (she said sarcastically), he put off the procedure until I was able to convince him we should talk to the docs about it, again. We went back to see them in February. The docs decided we would have another test done on TJ’s heart to see what his ejection fraction was, currently. We got the test done right then. The doc said he’d call us when the results were in. So we waited. And we waited. And waited.

Finally in April, I said, “honey, you need to call the docs. Maybe your paperwork was missed, and they forgot to call.” I was especially concerned as a sudden heart stoppage is very possible with the EJ as low as his was from last summer. I had to repeat this request 3 or so times until TJ finally called the doctor. He left a message for the doc who finally got back to us yesterday. This is what the doc said,

Your test results look really good. The EJ is back to normal. You don’t need the defibrillator. Come see me in August.

What? Another miracle 🙏 Everything about TJ’s original heart attack in 2014, outside of the damage done to his heart muscle, was miraculous. The original event was the widow maker. Most men with this event die before making it to the hospital. In fact, 88% of them die from this kind of heart attack.

TJ lived 3 days before getting to an ER, then surgery (a stent), and a week in the hospital to “recuperate.” Nine years later… his heart is in good condition. There are no new blockages. His ejection fraction is normal for his age. I live astounded by the goodness of God. Again.

In the meantime, we have TJ’s Shorts out on Amazon! Here’s a rundown:

***Also, TJ continues working on Lost at Sea. This story is a mobster crime drama. We’re getting close to publishing. We’re hoping it will be out before the Payson Book & Art Festival in July!

I’m working on a gritty good brother/bad brother story, full of crime, drugs, danger. Will this adventure end well? Will the brothers ever make amends? I don’t even know myself (well, I do, but… I can’t give it away).
